Navratri 2027: Colours & a Crystal for Each Day

Sharad Navratri 2027 day by day — the verified colour, the goddess, her ruling planet in one popular tradition, and the crystal to place on your altar.

By The Indian Vedic Crystal editorial teamUpdated 11 October 20266 min read

Sharad Navratri 2027 begins on Fri, 1 Oct 2027 with Ghatasthapana on Ashwin Shukla Pratipada (see the Ghatasthapana 2027 muhurat). Durga Ashtami falls on Thu, 7 Oct 2027, the Navami tithi runs from Fri 8 Oct, 6:28 am to Sat 9 Oct, 9:03 am, and Vijayadashami (Dussehra) is on Sat, 9 Oct 2027. Each of the nine days honours one form of Navdurga — and in a widely followed astrological tradition, each goddess governs one of the nine planets, which gives a simple way to choose a crystal for each day.

Why a tithi repeats in 2027
This year one tithi covers sunrise on two consecutive days, so the nine calendar days and the nine tithis don't line up exactly. Many households still honour one goddess per calendar day; temples follow the tithi. Both are traditional.

Dashami (Dussehra)Sat 9 Oct, 9:03 amSun 10 Oct, 11:41 amSat, 9 Oct 2027

Sandhi Puja 2027 — the 48-minute junction of Ashtami and Navami — falls around 6:04 am to 6:52 am IST on Thu, 7 Oct 2027 (the last 24 minutes of Ashtami and first 24 of Navami). Bengal and Durga Puja pandals time the main Ashtami puja and Sandhi Puja to this moment.

How these dates are chosen
Durga Ashtami is taken on the day the Ashtami tithi prevails at sunrise (Thu, 7 Oct 2027). Vijayadashami follows the Aparahna rule: the day Dashami covers the afternoon (Sat, 9 Oct 2027).
Why Dussehra 2027 is Sat, 9 Oct 2027
Vijayadashami is observed on the day the Dashami tithi covers Aparahna (roughly 1–3:30 pm). Here Dashami begins Sat 9 Oct, 9:03 am, so it covers the afternoon of Sat, 9 Oct 2027. Counting Dashami at sunrise alone would wrongly give the next day.

A simple Navratri crystal altar

  • Set the altar in the North-East (Ishan kon) — see puja room Vastu.
  • Keep a clear quartz (sphatik) at the centre for all nine days and add the day's crystal each morning.
  • Cleanse the stones on Sarva Pitru Amavasya (the day before Navratri) and again after Vijayadashami.
  • Ashtami, Navami and Vijayadashami are popular days to energise a new gemstone — ideally the stone of your Lagna lord.
